@NeoYokel hahahaha well that's one of the advantages mastodon has! by being an iterative framework instead of a so-called Platform, it lacks the ad-selling angle, which means no complete horseshit like the Algorithmic Timeline! but even 2011 twitter couldn't compete with 2022 twitter, imo

@NeoYokel on top of that, like, it's more of a systemic problem that "moving to mastodon" doesn't fix. it's communal, yeah, but it's still bogged down by individualist practices, and doesn't allow for full user or community autonomy. like u said in ur qrt, s/t like Extratone is a start!

@NeoYokel i appreciate it & think that as a framework mastodon is a neat thing, but in practice it has one too many core issues for me to fully abide by, if that makes sense? there are, as of my last inspection, a lot of key problems (esp w security) that make it just a Lesser Discord imo
