@NeoYokel I think this is what I'm struggling to get across - you only need to want a better/different experience. Yes, this is an experience but have you considered what it would be like to not be constantly having to scroll past ads, promoted content, political car crash rhetoric...

@NeoYokel I've been around enough to know what I've come from at this point! I idled IRC for years! Had cool RSS feeds I loved! They all had cons but none of them were geared solely towards a negative user xp for positive profits. And I'm tired of it! I just wanna chill on the internet.

While there are a few key differences, the experience of microblogging between Twitter and Mastodon are largely the same, with a much higher promise on Mastodon of actually having a moderated platform where you don't have to look at dumb shit and advertising content.
