How We Write
How We Write
This survey aims to explore how people use digital tools in their writing process in order to understand if word processing/notetaking technologies have a significant effect on what we write. The questions are presented in multiple choice fill-in-the-blank statements. Only one answer per question will be permitted, so we ask that you choose the answer which feels the most true about yourself in the present. These questions are divided into sections: UNPLANNED WRITING, BRAINSTORMING, OUTLINING, ROUGH DRAFTING, REVISING, and PUBLISHING. All but the first subsection below are borrowed from education: https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/980/02/ Writers differentiate tremendously in their processes and the stages of these are less linear and defined, but we use them here to establish an elementary base. Please use your best judgement when answering questions about parts of the process that may be unfamiliar to you.
