When Nilay Patel was four years old, he drove a Chrysler into a small pond because he was trying to learn how the gearshift worked. Years later, he became a technology journalist. He has thus far remained dry. Nilay was a co-founder of The Verge and the site's first Managing Editor before taking over as Editor-in-Chief. He also was the acting Managing Editor for the launch of Vox.com. Before that, he spent four years as Managing Editor of Engadget, where he drew upon his background as a lawyer to report and explain complex legal situations in everyday terminology — a niche that led to SAY Media naming Nilay one of 10 "voices that matter" in technology journalism. Nilay co-hosts the Webby Award-winning Vergecast podcast, and has appeared on CNN, CNN International, NPR, Fox News, MSNBC, Sky News, NHK, G4TV, TWiT, and many others. Nilay received an AB in Political Science from the University of Chicago in 2003 and his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2006.

Justine Calma is a science reporter at The Verge covering the environment and energy.

Jon Porter is a news reporter, video presenter, and Capricorn. Part of The Verge's UK-based team, his primary focuses are European consumer tech releases, EU tech policy, online platforms, and video games. Oh, and mechanical keyboards. Elizabeth Lopatto is a senior writer at The Verge, where she covers how the internet is changing how we think about money: cryptocurrency, business, fintech and Elon Musk for some reason. Charles Pulliam-Moore is a Film & TV writer for The Verge focusing on genre entertainment and how disparate, fandom-specific conversations coalesce into what we know as "the discourse." Before coming to The Verge, Charles wrote about comic books, labor, race and a multitude of other topics at io9 and Gizmodo, and his writing has also been featured on NPR's Code Switch blog. When he isn't reading the source material for a piece or decompressing with a comfort horror movie, Charles is usually somewhere on his bike.

Cameron Faulkner is a writer at The Verge, focused on reviews, news, and deals coverage. He’s the guy responsible for covering all of the monitors, webcams, and gaming headsets that are worth your attention. However, you’ll find his byline on posts about VR, laptops, TVs, battery packs, and a lot more. Before joining The Verge in 2018, he worked at TechRadar as the associate mobile editor, covering everything to do with phones. He got his break writing online in 2012 as an intern at the now-defunct news branch of AOL’s Games.com. When he’s not at work, Cameron’s usually gaming, playing the drums, trying to cook, and playing with cats, sometimes simultaneously.

Brandon Widder is a Portland-based journalist and a senior editor at The Verge, where he helps oversee deals, buying guides, and other commerce initiatives. Since he was a kid, he’s been obsessed with tech, having spent far too many hours playing Sega Genesis and downloading copious amounts of music on LimeWire. Formerly a senior editor at Digital Trends, he’s spent the past decade honing tutorials, buying guides, and other types of evergreen content. When he’s not sifting through the latest deals and tech news, he can typically be found in a heated exchange over Catan, zipping around on his ‘81 Honda Passport, or volunteering with his local search and rescue outfit.
