They start out great with something you love watching and then slowly fade over time. Think The Godfather Part I vs. Godfather Part III or the Jaguar E-Type Series I vs. Series III. While this is the rule, you’ll always find exceptions. The Porsche 911 immediately comes to mind. A harder car to figure out is the Lancia Delta HF Integrale. We’re wondering if Lancia actually saved the best for last. The final edition was made to honor the Integrale’s brilliant racing career. Developed for the Japanese market only where the car was immensely popular, it included the Japanese Importers wishlist including additional carbon fiber, Eibach springs, anthracite wheels, push button start, and the iconic HF stripe among other changes. Production was also limited to just 250 examples. While it’s easy to say it's a bit over the top, we kind of love that. The XJR-S is just one of those cars they we keep find ourselves talking more and more about at CCC HQ lately. On one hand, it’s got a lot going for it. Handsome, British good looks, wood drabbed interior, big burly V12, and rarity with less than 800 produced over its production run. This ‘Racing Green’ JaguarSport Series II example was also one of the rarest XJR variants with only 124 hand-built examples produced. On the other hand, it’s a Jaguar from the early 90s so yeah, reliability might not be Honda like so say the least. As @JordanChasesClassics mentioned, no bumper-to-bumper warranty found here. But, like many classics, there’s a point where some of the headaches transition to lovable quirks. We also think the ‘Brooklands Green’ over tan interior suits this car well and it’s reportedly been well maintained with only 38,000 miles from new. Their V8’s are beginning to erupt all over the world and prices on prime examples like this one are skyrocketing into the atmosphere at an alarming rate. Perhaps that’s because quite frankly there’s nothing hotter than a two owner, 7,000 mile red Ferrari with tan interior. What makes this car even more dangerous than say other 348s is that it’s so well preserved and documented, that anyone who decides gets close needs to do so with extreme caution because even the slightest road chip could disturb its natural state.
