Sierra Lund knew she wanted to be a pilot from an early age. On June 29, she had just started her 150-mile solo flight for her pilot's license when the unthinkable happened—the plane's engine failed.

Sierra Lund, 17, of Peachtree, Georgia, was in mid-flight while piloting solo 'cross-countries' and shortly after take off lost an engine. She safely landed on a nearby golf course.
